An insight into life as Parent & Child foster carer's - Dave & Lindzi

Dave and Lindzi are Parent and Child foster carers at Calon Cymru. Parent and Child (P&C) foster carers support a parent (or parents) to look after their baby (or babies) by supervising and offering the parents advice and encouragement where needed.

We met up with the couple and found out why they chose this type of fostering, they spoke of seeing an advert for Parent and Child fostering and remembered the difficulties they faced when raising their own children. They recalled how having a strong support network was vital for them as new parents, so wanted to be there to support those who don’t have that network around them.

Dave and Lindzi spoke of their reservations when thinking about fostering, and how they were concerned their family unit would become unsettled:

Family wise nothing has changed, your family just becomes bigger.

Dave and Lindzi love the challenges that fostering brings on a daily basis, their only regret is that they didn’t start fostering sooner!
