Our latest Care Inspectorate Wales report says...

"The well-being of children is clearly central to the ethos and practice of the agency. Children participate in decisions about their care and support, they are able to develop positive relationships with their foster carers and other people who are important to them and are supported to fulfil their potential and achieve positive outcomes.''

Fostering FAQs

Generally, the process takes around 6 months, but this can vary depending on your circumstances. As part of the fostering assessment process, you will be required to complete some paperwork as part of our routine foster carer checks. But don’t worry, you will be allocated your own social worker who will be able to help you with each step.

How much does fostering pay is one of our most frequently asked questions! Once you are approved as a foster carer and allocated your first placement, an allowance will be calculated based on your experience and the circumstances of the child/children placed with you. Fostering a child or young person is unique each time – allowances also differ to reflect this. Our knowledgeable team will be happy to run through this with you. We have a designated page on our website which covers everything you need to know regarding fostering allowances. Click here to find out more.

During the assessment process numerous checks will be undertaken to evaluate your suitability as a potential foster carer. These will include a medical check, personal and professional references, and a DBS check. This may seem daunting, but they are in place to safeguard and protect our children and young people.
