What is Therapeutically Led Placements (TLP)?  

Our Therapeutically Led Placements (TLP) service offers all the benefits of foster care and therapy in one package. Our incredible TLP foster care team has extensive training and support to help children and young people who need it most. This is a demanding service, but it is endlessly rewarding.  

Children in this placement have been through trauma and abuse and can display challenging behaviours. However, with your nurturing and support, this service helps these children heal their emotional wounds. Each placement is supported by a programme tailored to meet the needs of the child, young person and the fostering family. This means our service is responsive and allows the needed change, and the results are excellent.  

Will I be supported?  

Calon Cymru will support you every step of the way. We understand this service's challenge, so we provide extensive support and training for our TLP team. In addition, you have access to your own Supervising Social Worker, and your child will have their own Individual Worker. We also run peer support groups where you can chat with other carers who can relate.  

On top of this extra support, we also offer an enhanced fostering allowance and increased paid respite for TLP foster carers. 

Could I be a TLP Carer?

If you are up for joining our specialist team of foster carers, you are already halfway there. However, some skills are very handy in dealing with this type of placement. Having a good sense of humour is important, as well as being adaptable, emotionally robust and able to draw on the practical skills you have gained throughout your life. Our Therapeutically Led Placements can achieve incredible results for children and a long-lasting, positive impact on you.
