Decade Club celebrates long-standing foster carers

This year Calon Cymru Fostering launched the Decade Club to celebrate the foster carers who have been supporting vulnerable children and young people for over 10 years. The aim of the Decade Club is to allow us to show gratitude for the work these incredible, long standing carers have done and continue to do. They work tirelessly to ensure that children and young people in need of a secure home can find somewhere they feel safe to live, grow and thrive and for this we are thankful.

On September 28, we gathered many of our long standing foster carers at The Towers Hotel and Spa, Swansea, for the inaugural meeting of the Decade Club. The carers, and a number of members of staff, were treated to a delicious three-course meal as well as a scroll presentation and an incredible ‘Calon Cymru’ themed cake that was baked and decorated by our very own Michelle Crane.

On the day, Regional Operations Director, Sharon Cavaliere and CEO Peter Mitchell, both took to the mic to make speeches noting their appreciation for the hard work and dedication of the carers, reminiscing over the history of the business and looking forward to the future and what is still to come.

“We are incredibly proud of our foster carers and wanted to show them how truly appreciated they are. The carers gathered in this room are some of the most experienced foster carers in the country and we are privileged to have them amongst our cohort.” Stated Sharon Cavaliere, Regional Operations Director

Amongst the carers gathered were our longest serving carers Michelle and Andrew Scott who have been providing safe spaces for children and young people for 27 years. During this time they have supported many children with their longest placement staying with them for 11 years.

This Decade Club celebration is the first of many to come and we look forward to making this an annual event with an ever growing list of attendees.
