Happy New Year

What a strange couple of months we have all had. Restrictions being changed daily, not really knowing what we can and can’t do. Then the news of a vaccine. Hopefully, 2021 will look very different to 2020.
All through the lockdowns, we have regular contact and support from Calon Cymru. We have access to support 24/7 and our friendly, approachable Supervising Social Workers are always on hand to talk through any issues we may have with our placements.
Leading up to Christmas, we had competitions for the children to participate in and it was announced that the children could take part in a Christmas Card competition for next Christmas, which will be printed and used by the team next year. We were unable to have our annual Christmas lunch but were fortunate to receive a hamper with some lovely goodies for everyone. We also had a generous bonus just in time for Christmas. We even managed a virtual quiz!
The training schedule has been delivered online and has been well attended. You just need to log on to the appropriate course and then participate with your colleagues.
The current restrictions in Wales have all schools closed for the foreseeable future. My placement has additional needs and is struggling with being at home. He is able to attend his school as a hwb and it has been a difficult decision to make, but I see him suffering at home. Limited attendance will hopefully regulate his behaviour and make him feel secure in his routine again. I know that I could call upon my supervising social worker at any time for advice and to support my decisions. It is a difficult time for us all and we all need to be safe.
Chat again soon, keep safe and look after your loved ones.
Daisy Doo and Julian too, signing out.
