Our top ten Elf on the Shelf ideas

Elf Webp
December starts tomorrow, which means those pesky elves are about to make a return! If you're stuck for ideas, Calon Cymru has you covered. Here are ten of our favourite Elf on the Shelf scenarios, all with props that you should already have in your home or are easy to find.

10. Hiding Elf

Hiding your elf is quick and easy, you could hide them in the Christmas tree, a plant, or even behind a cushion on the sofa with their head poking out. This is a great option if you've forgotten to do something with the elf and it's already late in the evening!

9. Competitive Elf

Elf on the shelf loves to play games! How about the elf building a tower, or playing noughts and crosses against another toy? Who will win?!

8. Elf on the Shelf wants a movie night

It's time for a movie night with your elf. Get a blanket and some popcorn and cwtch up on the sofa with your favourite Christmas film!

7. Elf on the Shelf has a cold

If your little one is feeling under the weather, your poorly elf might need a bit of TLC too! Make sure they get plenty of rest and relaxation, why not try giving them some hot tea or soup to help them feel better? With a bit of love and care, your Elf should be feeling better in no time!

6. Toasting marshmallows with your Elf

Toasting marshmallows is an age-old tradition. Whether it's around a campfire, a fireplace, or even a stovetop, nothing beats the gooey, sweet taste of a toasted marshmallow. The secret to getting a perfectly toasted marshmallow is to slowly turn the stick until the marshmallow is golden brown!

5. Elf on the Shelf is stuck in a toilet roll!

Somehow the elf got stuck in a toilet roll! They’ve been rolling down the stairs, tossing and turning, gathering speed with every step, what an adventure!

4. Artistic Elf

Some elves are artistic and creative. Using edible markers on food such as bananas to draw pictures, write messages, or draw festive shapes can be a lovely idea, plus, the food will still be safe to eat, so it's a win-win!

3. Reading with your Elf

Elf on the shelf enjoys taking a break from all the mischief and getting lost in a good book. As well as this being a calm and mess-free scenario, children may also be inspired to read if they see their elf curled up on a chair getting lost in a story.

2. Elf on the Shelf is leading the conga

It's time to get your groove on! Your elf is leading the conga so turn on the music, join in the fun and show off your best moves! A perfect way to burn off some energy.

1. Snow angel Elf

Your elf can easily make a snow angel! This is our favourite idea as it’s simple yet effective. By using flour or sugar on the kitchen counter, your elf can spread their arms and legs to make the perfect snow angel! With its twinkling eyes and rosy cheeks, your elf will look like they’re having a blast rolling around in the snow!
