We’ve had a busy summer, attending a total of 13 events across both South East and West Wales. Our foster carers and staff have loved getting out and about and speaking to hundreds of people about fostering!

Our calendar of summer events started way back in June with Pride Cymru, which took place at its new location of Cardiff Castle. We loved beginning our events season with this special weekend, we’re used to spending the August bank holiday at Pride, but this year the celebration was moved forward to coincide with Pride Month, which only added to the unique atmosphere!

July brought the start of the agricultural show season. We headed to both the Machen Show and Bridgend Country Show for the first time. The shows welcomed us with open arms, we loved meeting so many local people, and telling them what makes Calon Cymru so special!

In August, the agricultural shows gathered pace. We returned to some of our favourite shows, including Fishguard Show, Nevern Show, Vale of Glamorgan Show, and Pembrokeshire County Show. We’ve always enjoyed joining in the fun at these shows and loved chatting with people interested in offering local children a stable and loving home. We also went to some events we’d never been to before, including the Pembroke Town and Country Show and the Cardigan River and Food Festival.

We were busy over the August Bank holiday at two more events we had never been to. On Saturday we went to the Barking Mad Dog Show, organised by Llanharan based dog rescue ‘Hope Rescue’ and on Monday two of our foster carers were proudly talking about their fostering careers at the Pontardulais Show.

This month brought our final two shows of the season, the first was Usk Show. We always loved this one day event, and we were so blessed to have gorgeous sunshine for it. Our final event was Burns' Dogs Day Out, which took place at Margam Park, although the weather was far wetter than we hoped, we had a paw-some time and it was the perfect way to round off a busy summer!

We’ve enjoyed every minute of the summer. We are so passionate about what we do and love sharing our experiences and answering any questions. If you missed us at an event and are interested in fostering, you can enquire here. We would love to hear from you!
