Transferring to us couldn't be easier!

If you are an approved foster carer, you can choose to transfer to an alternative foster care agency at any time with no disruption to your existing foster placements. We understand the importance of taking care of and supporting our foster carers and their families so they can provide the best care for children and young people.

Fostering transfer FAQ

Submit a written notice of intent to transfer to your current foster care agency via post or email. A meeting will be arranged involving your current social worker, the placing authority social worker for any foster children in your care, our fostering manager and yourselves.

During the meeting, we will discuss the best interests of the child, any support needs for the child and yourselves, the finances, and a timetable of what will be happening in the following weeks.

We will undertake our own foster carer assessment, and foster carer checks, which is usually much quicker than the first time you were assessed. Our panel will then make a recommendation. You will then submit your 28-day resignation to your current agency, after which you will be an Calon Cymru Foster Carer!

You will be allocated a Calon Cymru social worker who will complete your foster carer assessment, which is often completed much in less time than the first time you were approved. Then our panel will make a recommendation. You will then submit your 28-day resignation, after which you will be a Calon Cymru foster carer!

Yes, it is entirely your choice. As a foster carer you have the right to transfer to a different foster care agency at any time.

Yes! You can transfer foster services, whether that is a Local Authority or to an independent foster care agency.
